An international ministry, birthed by Emmaus. Kairos is made up of Christian volunteers from many different denominations who come together to answer God’s call to visit and befriend those in prison, with the view of bringing them to Jesus. A series of training sessions prepare the volunteers to go in as a united Body of Christ reflecting His love and compassion giving residents (prisoners) hope for the future.
At Lyttelton Methodist Church, we are committed to extending God’s love and grace to all, especially to those who need it most.
Under the guidance of the Late John Francis and with the support of our dedicated society members, Lyttelton Methodist Church has become an active participant in this transformative program. Through the Friends Who Care commission, and in partnership with Kairos, we share the message of God’s love and forgiveness with those who are incarcerated, as well as with their families who are deeply affected.
Our Ministry Involves:
About
This year, LMC was able to support the following Kairos events by being present at these ministries:
02 to 05 May 2024: Kairos Ladies Inside at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre (Pretoria Central Prison)
24 to 26 May 2024: Kairos Outside Gauteng North (This programme focuses on the female loved ones of offenders who have attended a Kairos Inside programme)
06 to 09 June 2024: Kairos Inside # 24 at the ODI Correctional Centre in Soshanguve
Through these efforts, we strive to bring light into the darkest places, offering hope and renewal to those who seek it. We invite you to join us in this vital ministry, as we continue to serve and uplift those who are often forgotten by society.
