A Few Words By Rev Derek Oppenshaw

It is an honour to offer this foreword in celebration of the ‘His-Story’ of the ‘Society called Lyttelton’ of the ‘Methodist Tribe’ in the year of our Lord, 2018. Lyttelton has an encouraging, awesome yet humbling ‘timeline’ that speaks of apprentices of Jesus discerning His guidance in making a difference to the community in which they have been placed.

May the vision of Christ continually building His ecclesia (Matthew 16:18) never leave this congregation! And may the words of our Methodist father, Charles Wesley, always be part of Lyttelton’s DNA:

May faith, hope and love – in and through the power of the Holy Spirit – be within you in your journey through the 21st Century.

A charge to keep i have. A God to glorify...
To serve the present age, My calling to fulfill:
Oh, may it all my pow'rs engage to do my Master's will
Help me to watch and pray, and on thyself rely...

May faith, hope and love – in and through the power of the Holy Spirit – be within you in your journey through the 21st Century.
